Kyla Kirkpatrick always had a crush on her older sister’s friend, Casey Hudson, but never acted on it until college. The two hit it off and went on to finish college together at the University of Colorado at Boulder. For their vintage-inspired garden party wedding, the couple chose Kyla’s childhood home as the venue. They wanted an outdoor, relaxed feel, but were anything but relaxed when it came to worrying about the weather for the entirely al fresco affair. “It was really nerve-wracking, since we were completely dependent on the weather,” Kyla says. “But we couldn’t have had more perfect weather on a more perfect day.” She loved having her horse nearby as they said their vows—a dream of hers since childhood—but Kyla’s highlight was being presented to their family and friends as Mr. and Mrs. Hudson. “Up until that point,” Kyla says, “the whole day felt surreal. Now we could celebrate!”
