Victorian fashion serves as the muse for this botanical design dreamed up by Jessica St. George of Everworth Photography at The Lowlands in St. Paul. “The luxury dresses from that era had vibrant blues and big flowy skirts,” says St. George. “I wanted the elegance and decadence of the 1880s to be shown in a modern aesthetic.” With this romantic concept under their corset, the team set out to create a design fit for a modern-day Jane Eyre. The florals evoke a verdant Victorian garden with lush arrangements of creamy white punctuated with cerulean blue. Dainty, flower-patterned blue china adds to the effect while geometric shelving is adorned with simple blooms to soften the industrial space. For the ceremony, soft whimsical draping across the ceiling envelopes the scene. The space is transformed into a verdant scape with the addition of abundant garlands tangled among the draping. “The cake is the showstopper of the room,” says St. George. “The four tiers are wrapped in luxurious iridescent sheets layered on top of each other to emulate the pairing of structure with whimsical.” Delicate flower buds complete the confection.
Pretty posies meet clean lines for a modern take on a bygone era.
