Wedding Date: August 12, 2017
There are probably thousands of art pieces dedicated to finding love in New York: songs, paintings, poems. Maybe Caitlin and Kevin’s story didn’t quite flourish there, but that is where it starts; an awkward first date during each’s tenure at Columbia University. They followed each other to D.C. by happenstance, then to California by choice. This only briefly highlights the true wanderlust nature of these two, which became the theme for their wedding in the small Minnesota town of Lanesboro. The morning of started in the bride’s late grandparent’s home, still owned by the family. She greeted her father for his first look on the same staircase she played on as a child. In the church Caitlin’s parents were married, they exchanged their vows also; wearing rings that when put together show a map of the world. Travelers from Hong Kong, South Africa, and Germany also attended this quaint affair. Guests were treated to yard games and customized cocktails following the ceremony; the beer from Minnesota, the wine from California. Each table represented a different city the two have traveled to, also including the distance in miles that city is from Lanesboro. The newlyweds toasted into the night with the same champagne flutes from Caitlin’s parent’s wedding. The evening was simply bursting with sentiment and symbolism, much more than can be stated in words.
