Wedding: August 27, 2016
Honeymoon: St. Lucia
Hailey Askeland and Blake Finger grew up just five blocks apart, had art class together and worked together at Blake’s father’s restaurant—but the two ultimately hit it off on a golf course in 2009. After graduating from college, the pair took a trip to Florida, where Blake surprised her with a proposal on the beach. On the morning of their wedding, Hailey and her bridal party started the day with a pink champagne toast. During the ceremony, their mothers got swept up in the emotion of the moment and accidentally lit the unity candle meant for Hailey and Blake. Luckily, no one noticed—except for the quick-thinking videographer, who extinguished the flame with his fingertips so the bride and groom could take their turn. Then Hailey and Blake lit a candle for each guest to the tune “Oceans” by Hillsong United. After the ceremony, they drove his father’s yellow 1966 Mustang to Central Park in Northfield, one of their favorite spots during their high school dates. They took a few moments alone to exchange gifts and treasure the day before returning to the party. The couple ended the gorgeous night with a sparkler sendoff as their guests shouted “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
From the bride:
Our wedding day was a day to remember. After seven years of dating, our much anticipated wedding day arrived with a few nerves but mostly excitement as we became one. It was a sparkling, summer affair in the town where we both grew up, Northfield, MN. Love and laughter filled the day as we celebrated our beautiful wedding with our most treasured friends and family.
