Wedding: June 11, 2016. Ceremony & reception: Touch of Country Class, Waseca. Honeymoon: Maui, Hawaii
Jill Olson knew Alex Hamilton while growing up in New Prague; back then, he was just her best friend’s younger brother. They lost touch for over a decade until their paths fortuitously crossed once again—and thankfully Alex’s sister was in full support of their connection. After working as a photographer in the industry for so many years, Jill knew exactly what she wanted for her own wedding. “I love when people are over the top, but I wanted more of a minimal approach,” she says. Alex proposed in September and they planned their wedding for early summer. According to Jill, the engagement was “short and sweet and perfect.” The couple chose a newer venue in Waseca that features vintage farm buildings. Instead of florals, they opted for lots of candles. Despite ideal weather leading up to the event, their wedding day turned out to be extremely hot. When they turned on fans to keep guests comfortable, all of the candles blew out—but that didn’t dampen the mood or their vision for the day. “It was just super-relaxed,” says Jill.
