Wedding: July 22, 2017

Ceremony: Immaculate Heart Church, Crosslake

Reception: The NP Event Space, Brainerd

Many Minnesotans are familiar with a “Benny and Johnny love,” and that special bond formed between Jenna Laufers and Michael Palmiscno. They first met during Jenna’s sophomore year at St. Benedict College, and when Michael graduated from St. John's University that same year, he took a job as a hockey coach at the school so they could be near each other. The outdoorsy duo enjoy nothing better than a boat, their dog and some time away from the cities at their families’ cabins. They have spent many summers at the Laufers’ family cabin in Crosslake, and one cozy night over pizza, Michael proposed. Their many happy memories at the lake led the couple to get married in the Brainerd area. Exchanging vows at the Immaculate Heart Church was a deeply personal experience for Jenna, who grew up attending Sunday school at the church. For their reception, they were drawn to the NP Event Space because of its historic feel. Set in an old trainyard, the reception space features brick walls, chandeliers and an exposed steel-beam ceiling. Guests were welcomed by a romantic sit-down meal at farm-style tables, surrounded by gold chiavari chairs. Splashes of floral in bright hues, pillar candles and white lights also warmed the scene. Jenna contributed to the décor, adding fun antiques—yet another familiar touch to a hometown wedding.
