After just a few weeks of dating, Ember Oldenburg looked at Carl Powers and asked, “Are you for real?” Ember was impressed by the hardworking, class-act man who connected with her 2½-year-old son. “He just kind of dug in,” says Ember. The couple originally had other wedding venues in mind, but when they visited the Landmark Center, it was love at first sight. Located in the historic Ramsey County Courthouse, the sophisticated venue boasts five floors of balconies and a glass ceiling. The Jam Factory band provided live entertainment at the reception while guests enjoyed food stations and nine single-serving desserts to choose from. “People raved about the food,” says Ember, who was also thrilled by her makeup artist, with whom she hadn’t done a trial run before the day of the wedding. “I have never been so happy. She blew it out of the water.”
