From the photographer:

Crystal and Jake met through Jake's cousin, Abby. Crystal started hanging out with Abby, Gina (Jake's sister), and Jake. Eventually, Jake got Crystal's number and asked her out on a date. "I knew immediately that he was not like other guys, and I loved how much he made me laugh," says Crystal. A little over three years of dating, Jake and Crystal went ring shopping. After that, it became a guessing game of when he would propose.

One night, on a traditional game night with friends, Jake finally popped the question with the help of Cards Against Humanity. Crystal's turn came to pick a winning card. Her card was "___ is a slippery slope that leads to ____" and she had to pick out of her friends' cards the one that best fit the blanks. Jake put "Love is a slippery slope that leads to getting married, having kids, buying stuff, retiring to Florida and dying." He had arranged for this to happen. Unfortunately, Crystal didn't choose his card and chose a funny one instead. Jake still used it as his transition to propose though, and Crystal said yes! The couple chose to get married at the Carlson Center because the marble and pillars reminded them of Italy, which is where they will go on their honeymoon for their on year anniversary. Some unique additions during the ceremony were that the couple did a hand fastening ceremony instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony to literally "tie the knot". Another unique touch was that they hired a professional cigar roller and had a cigar bar at the reception!
