Amanda Dahl and Connor Harreld went to the same high school and college, but they didn’t click until after they’d graduated, when the two were at a bar with mutual friends and he finally mustered up the courage to ask her to dance. Four years later, the day of his proposal started off as a re-creation of the couple’s first date, with brunch at East Side Bar in St. Paul. A hike at Willow River State Park followed, where Connor proposed, but the real surprise was an engagement party Connor had planned. Blessed with lovely spring weather, their wedding at The Sinclair on Grand in Northeast Minneapolis was full of personal touches: the wedding rings were from their late grandparents, Amanda’s “something old” butterfly hairpin belonged to Connor’s late grandmother, she wore “something borrowed” earrings loaned by her mother, and a pin that she and her high school best friends have shared at each of their weddings for “something blue.” The couple went for a timeless look, with a classic black and white palette, soft greenery and gold accents. To showcase their love for Minneapolis, they used as many local companies as possible, and tables were named after local breweries while a food truck served dinner. Amanda’s reception dress was a hit, as was the reception itself, as everyone gathered on the dance floor to celebrate the couple.
