Teresa Vernig and Michael Starke met at Concordia College and got engaged two years later. Shortly after the proposal, the couple moved down to Tennessee, where each is currently in graduate school. They chose to come back to Minnesota for their wedding, but they wanted to incorporate their new home by going with a modern Southern wedding theme. They chose the Nicollet Island Pavilion because they loved its location in the heart of Minneapolis, as well as the vaulted ceilings and exposed brick interior. “The location of the venue was perfect,” Teresa says. “Having our wedding ceremony outside overlooking the river was amazing.” For a taste of their Southern home, they were lucky enough to get the Nashville-based Todd Sansom Band to travel to Minnesota for their big day. They were also lucky when it came to Mother Nature—they had a perfect 70-degree August day to say “I do.”
