Choosing the right florist can be one of the trickiest, and most crucial, parts of the wedding-planning process. For Holly Stavnes and Lars Olson, however, it was a no-brainer, as her relatives own a flower shop in San Diego. They turned the banquet room of their Minneapolis hotel into a pop-up florist shop for the weekend of the wedding, putting everyone to work assembling bouquets and centerpieces for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception. It was a big production, but one that definitely paid off, resulting in gorgeous arrangements imbued with the love and support of family and friends. The ceremony was held at the bride’s childhood church, a deeply significant location for this couple whose relationship is rooted in their Christian faith. Holly and Lars chose the timing of their wedding in part to memorialize her father, who had passed away two years before close to the wedding date. His memory was present throughout the events of the day, including in the single red rose placed symbolically among the white flowers at the reception.
