Tommy Astrup and Abby Sekus had been dating for about a year when he proposed to her on the Stone Arch Bridge one snowy night a couple of days before Christmas in 2021. They tied the knot on a perfect May day followed by a reception at the Minikahda Club amid idyllic lake views, fulfilling a dream Abby had had since childhood. Guests were welcomed with blooming tulips and colorful flower boxes—including one with a live duck that greeted everyone as they walked in! Abby took inspiration from her gown to create a “garden party” theme. Featuring blush tones, white flower appliqués and pearl and crystal elements, the dress details were incorporated into the décor of the day. “I wanted it to feel bright and cheerful,” she said. The couple opted for white blooms and greenery, with white baby’s breath adding an ethereal touch, while the bride and bridesmaids held elegant bouquets of white peonies. Clear vessels with orchids adorned tables at the reception for contemporary flair. Abby’s favorite moment of the day was seeing her groom for the first time when she came down the aisle. “It was a surreal feeling, and it felt so special having all our friends and family there during that moment.”
