Heidi Hoganson met Erik McConnon at Winona State University just before her 18th birthday, but they didn’t start dating until years later, when they reconnected in the Cities over sand volleyball. “Three months later, we picked out an engagement ring,” Heidi says. “Long story short, it has always been Erik.” Almquist Farm was the perfect setting, with the shade-providing oak trees and scenic rolling hills, but they had to use some imagination to help it achieve its full potential. They visited the farm while it was still under construction and viewed blueprints to get a glimpse at how the finished space would look. Clearly, they liked what was planned. “Our wedding day was truly special,” Heidi says. “We were surrounded by family and friends; even our officiant was a close friend who got ordained for us. It set us up for the loving commitment we’ve always dreamed of.”
