Raised in different faith traditions, Cassie Benson and Michael Navarro worked together creatively to come up with a ceremony that would feel authentic to each of them. They were married in a church with deep family significance to the bride, with her pastor and Mike’s priest co-officiating. Music is important to the couple, who spend a lot of time attending shows in the Twin Cities and around the country. They were thrilled to find a DJ versatile enough to play sophisticated classics at dinner, moving seamlessly into a more contemporary sound when it was time to dance. For months leading up to the wedding, the couple had practiced “the lift” from Dirty Dancing, though Cassie was a bit hesitant once she found herself in front of a crowd in a strapless wedding gown. At the last moment, though, she mustered up the courage to go for it and, in the bride’s words, they “nailed it.”
