Rachel Christopherson and Lucas Phelan’s wedding proposal and celebration were each a labor of love. Lucas’ scavenger-hunt proposal arranged for Rachel’s friends and family to meet her at each milestone location. The journey culminated in another warm welcome: One of the couple’s beloved bulldogs greeted Rachel with a ring box, and Lucas proposed. Though bulldogs Jugghead and Knuckles did not attend the wedding, their presence was felt throughout with table numbers created from their photos, bulldog cake toppers and Lucas’ bulldog cufflinks. Since Rachel and Lucas both love black and share a modern sensibility, they chose a palette of black, charcoal and green set against the dramatic architecture of the McNamara Alumni Center. The couple also spent hours sticking Manzanita branches into cachepot boxes for their centerpieces, which their florist embellished with white orchids, votive candles and crystals.
