With the line baited, it was time for Debbie to reel it in—literally. After meeting at a St. Patrick’s Day party a couple years prior, Barry Hartman decided it was time to bring out the champagne and propose to Debbie. With much secrecy and a lot of luck, Barry hid his proposal materials in a tool box, which he told Debbie was his “muskie fishing box” and hoped she would not want to open it. As the sun began to set out on the lake, it was time. Barry told her to “reel up your line,” but because he was pretending to not be out-fished he didn’t do the same and was given “the look.” He handed her his pole and brought in her line for her. However, her line caught a plastic fish with a question mark. She wasn’t sure what was going on until Barry asked those four little words—at least that is what he thinks he said—and she said “yes.” For their wedding, they celebrated on the shores for a relaxed and elegant with friends and family.
