Q. My fiancé and I have decided to have our reception outdoors, and while we’re excited about celebrating with Mother Nature, we’re worried about her uninvited guests. How can we avoid bugs at our event?
A. Everyone knows insects can be a big problem in Minnesota summers, but don’t let that scare you or your guests off. First, look into getting the area sprayed with safe-for-humans insecticide or insect repellent a day or two before the festivities. Also, there are countless types of attractive hanging lanterns, citronella candles and lamps that guests won’t even notice but will help keep pests away. If you’re using a tent, consider draping the sides with netting, which will not only help keep the bugs out but look delicate and ethereal. Last, make sure the restrooms are stocked with both odorless and pleasantly fragranced bug sprays.
