Wedding: August 20, 2016
Honeymoon: Kauai
Becky Novotny and Karl Kittelson met on the volleyball court and were soon spending lots of time together taking runs around Lake of the Isles. Karl eventually proposed near the lake, a sentimental touch since his parents were also engaged there. Focusing on their relationship and their family led to a deeply meaningful day. Karl’s mother skillfully created the wedding gown, and Becky’s parents, who own a glass shop, created stained-glass votives for the centerpieces. Karl’s father made the home-brewed limoncello that graced the tables and served as favors. A friend of the bride designed the understated monogram, which unified all the printed pieces, from the invitations to the programs. When rain clouds appeared, the bride’s cousin rounded up a bunch of whimsical transparent umbrellas for the wedding party. As day melted into evening, everything came together: flickering candlelight, ivory lace, simple greenery and, of course, unalloyed joy.
