Exactly one year after their first date, Joel Zylstra proposed to Amy Stetzel in St. Paul’s Rice Park after a romantic dinner at Meritage. Amy’s birthstone is sapphire, and her favorite color is blue, so her engagement ring was a wish come true. The couple chose the Mayowood Stone Barn as a nod to their close-knit farm families. Joel’s undying love for the Beatles was represented: “All You Need is Love” played as the newlyweds exited the ceremony and the phrase was emblazoned on the programs, the favor boxes and even their wedding cake topper. Amy chose an assortment of 20 mini cakes in a variety of delicious flavors, and her mom curated the perfect assortment of chocolate and candy for the favor boxes. Guests were delighted with the make-it-yourself taco bar and are still talking about the photo booth housed in a vintage VW bus. The perfect 70-degree weather made Amy and Joel’s happy day even sunnier.
