Wedding Date: November 16, 2019
The day James Andrews and Carissa Hahn got engaged, things didn't go quite as planned. It was Valentine’s Day, her favorite holiday. He stopped to buy her fresh flowers before their dinner date, when James had planned to propose. But he was so nervous, he accidentally bought a fake orchid (it looked deceptively real). Then it was snowing, and traffic was bad, so they had to push back their reservation. But James just couldn’t wait; they were sitting in Carissa’s apartment when he popped the question. They chose Oak Ridge Country Club for their reception for its tall ceilings, numerous windows and natural lighting, which highlighted the dark emerald bridesmaid dresses and autumnal tones in the greenery. Flowers were a priority for Carissa, who worked with the florist to achieve a harmonious balance of organic textures and a pastel palette. Family contributions included an arch her father built for a photo backdrop and cakes created by her aunts. Looking back, Carissa recalls how much she loved their first dance, a moment of true connection for the couple.
