Northern Classic Wedding at Superior Shores Resort
Wedding Date: October 26, 2019
Brekke Hudelson and Erik Johnsrud’s romance is a classic love story, with ties beginning at Brekke’s birth. Erik’s late father, a physician, delivered Brekke, and the two grew up together in the small town of Hibbing. Though they both left after high school, they kept in touch, and after nine years away at school and jobs, they ended up moving back to Minnesota—and to each other. Erik proposed while they were out jogging. He had yet to get a ring because he wanted Brekke to pick one out, and he knew she liked collecting stones while hiking so he improvised and presented her with a rock he found on the road; it was the perfect gesture. Exploring nature played a big part in their relationship, so a lakefront wedding was a must. Personal details and down- to-earth décor by family members made it even more memorable: Erik’s grandmother created floral arrangements from her garden, paired with pine cones, balsam boughs, foliage and other items from woods around their families’ lake homes. Brekke’s father built a birch arch for the ceremony, with deer antlers crowning the center, capturing the couple’s passion for outdoor adventures.
