Melissa Peterson and John Perkins both worked at a courthouse, and John stopped by Melissa’s office so frequently that a judge they worked for commented that he must have a thing for her. The judge was right, and eventually John asked Melissa out. Fast-forward a couple years later and that same judge married the two at their “Glamorous in Wonderland”-themed wedding. “The idea was a Marie Antoinette-hosted picnic meets Mad Hatter tea party,” Melissa says. They found a perfect home for their theme at the Juliane James Place, where they fell for the eclectic ambiance (think church pews set up in the middle of the woods). Using a romantic palette and elements from Alice in Wonderland, like clocks, rabbits, vintage keys and mismatched china, they easily achieved the magical whimsy they were after.
