Wedding Date: September 21, 2019
On March 2, 2019, a helicopter sightseeing tour during a ski trip in Whistler, Canada, led to a mountaintop proposal. The celebration was much closer to home. Molly McElroy and Daniel Ordway held the reception on lakefront property Daniel’s family has owned for generations. The stationery suite hinted at the event's old-world feel, with deckle-edged handmade paper, a special scripted font and a custom monogrammed wax seal. Sharing a love of mountains and the north woods, Molly and Daniel opted for a hunting lodge vibe, reminiscent of the groom’s family cabin, even re-creating a lounge area with couches, blankets and leather chairs. Spectacular floral arrangements in rust, mauve and copper tones were coordinated with flowers in the garden outside the transparent 7,000-square-foot tent. Flowers—this time, edible ones—decorated the main cake, a favorite of the bride: Wuollet Bakery’s princess torte. Cocktails on the lawn and dancing the night away to a lively 11-piece band were other special moments, but, says Molly, “at the end of the day, all that ever mattered to us was marrying each other.”
