Wedding Date: November 9, 2019
On a September night in 2018, Shelby Marx and Zac Sundre planned a dinner out, followed by a movie at home. They were preparing to leave for dinner when he asked her to check that the movie he had brought over was in the case. Turns out there was no movie—but there was a ring. Zac’s pastor cousin officiated, making the “regular Lutheran wedding” extra- special, Shelby says. The couple wanted their 225 guests, many from rural areas, to be comfortable in the big city; Shelby said she felt at home the moment she visited The View at MEC. The couple kept it simple, with plenty of candles, neutral colors with pops of gold, hints of pink and lots of greenery in the bouquets and centerpieces. The couple was happy to continue a favorite wedding tradition among their friends: singing and dancing to “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers while the bride and groom are carried around on guests’ shoulders. A quiet pause right after the ceremony and enjoying those “just married” feelings was the couple’s favorite moment. “Although it was raining,” Shelby says, “it was so intimate, and so perfect.”
