Kari Holte found her perfect wedding venue while paging through a bridal magazine last year (our own Minnesota Bride magazine, in fact). She was trying to figure out the floral vendor for a wedding held at NP Event Space in Brainerd when a groom in one of the photos caught her eye. It turned out her fiancé, Shane Carlson, and the groom were childhood friends. “We called him up and asked what he thought,” says Kari. His recommendation led them to book the venue. They originally envisioned getting married outside, but it was such a beautiful indoor space that they were inspired to have their ceremony indoors. Because Brainerd is a smaller town, they kept with the venue’s preferred vendors and loved the results. “All of our vendors were amazing; the catering was incredible,” says Kari. One vendor in particular stood out—the venue’s preferred DJ, Electrifying Dynamics, is run by the very same childhood friend who set their plans in motion.
