A year of business shutdowns and social isolation has meant more than a few hurdles for the bridal industry to overcome. Susan Chin, owner/operator of The Chandelier Suite luxury salon in Burnsville, took on the challenge and expanded her business to include a custom mobile bridal boutique.

Chin drew up the floorplans and collaborated with Northwind Trailer Group to create her mobile boutique. She travels around Minnesota in a spacious, remodeled ice-fishing house with full insulation, all-terrain tires, restroom, heat, air conditioning and a fireplace. Standard rental includes 60 miles round-trip, with $2.50 per mile after that. She provides styling in the trailer, with an Italian leather wrapped purple styling chair, marble countertops, crystal door handles, shiplap interior and signature chandeliers, along with DIY makeup bar and a custom 8-foot bench. The boutique also makes an ideal area for pre-ceremony activities and socializing for the bride and her ladies, who can use the wet bar and wine fridge forbeverages and snacks, while the dark palette makes a striking contrast to bridal white.

The trailer can comfortably accommodate 8-12 people. During nice weather, Chin likes to put the awning out and set up an outdoor rug with bistro set so the bridal party can make it an indoor-outdoor event. “I offer it for bridal parties, little princess glam parties, ladies’ nights, proms, homecomings, birthdays, graduations, get away from the husband nights, The Bachelor finale viewing parties—whatever they may want it for, I’m pretty flexible.”

Her brick-and-mortar store, where she specializes in hair coloring, balayage and chemical treatments, is still open. Chin, who has owned her own business for over four years, has 12 years of experience in hair color.
