The newest trend in wedding planning isn’t about table linens or miniature desserts—it’s about popping the question. Now grooms looking for a little help with their proposal can turn to professional proposal planning, a new service offered by a handful of Minnesota wedding coordinators.
Local planner Elizabeth Anne Hunt of Lizie Anne Weddings + Proposals heard about the trend last summer and was among the first in the area to jump on the bandwagon. Here’s how it works: The groom-to-be and planner meet to discuss the couple’s love story and his proposal ideas. The planner then takes some time to custom-create a proposal based on the future groom’s wishes. After the planner presents the proposal plan, they tweak it until the aspiring groom is 100-percent satisfied. Based on the plan, the coordinator will recruit vendors and arrange all the details to bring the occasion to life.
“All the proposals I’ve had the honor of being a part of so far have been so beautiful and so personal,” says Hunt. Among them was a proposal in which the groom-to-be popped the question while a song he wrote played in the background at the couple’s favorite restaurant, which Hunt had rented and decorated to suit the couple’s taste. Then, Hunt shares, there was the “soft winter day, when we staged a walkway on the road where they first met with candles and lanterns. This road led to a hill of snow with Christmas lights reading ‘Will you marry me?’ ”
Prices for proposal planning begin at around $500, and vary widely depending on the details of the custom proposal.
