New Locally Designed Headpieces

Brides of France's Amanda Chaffin Reddy adds a vintage touch to a wedding look through her headpiece collection.

Brides seeking that finishing touch for their modern-meets-vintage vibe need look no further than the new collection of Dawson.Lovely headpieces. Made by local designer Amanda Chaffin Reddy, the delightfully delicate yet creative headpieces range from headbands to clips to veils and feature re-worked vintage pieces like brooches, fabrics and notions.

While Dawson.Lovely is new, Chaffin Reddy’s history on the Minnesota bridal scene is not. Working as a manager at Richfield’s Brides of France, Chaffin Reddy (who has a background in apparel design and also designs the local clothing line Dawson) began her company by creating custom accessories for brides who couldn’t find such imaginative pieces elsewhere. She still creates custom pieces, but now features a collection of basic pieces to mix and match. Start with a cage veil, for instance, and pair it with a dramatic flower or feather piece, or choose the Taryn feather headband, which boasts a vintage rhinestone brooch atop of a mass of lovely blush-colored features.

“My favorite part of working with brides has always been accessorizing them, giving them that one-of-a-kind look,” Chaffin Reddy says. “I can tell when their eyes light up when they’re looking in the mirror that I’ve hit the nail on the head—that the look I just put together is something so wonderful to them they would choose to wear it on one of the most important days of their life.” Sold online at dawsonlovely.etsy.com and at Brides of France in Edina and Richfield.
