Katie Mileusnic and Bryan Dahl were destined to marry in the untamed wilderness of the North Country; it’s that rugged terrain that’s near and dear to them both. Katie’s parents are from the Iron Range, and Bryan has been camping in the Boundary Waters countless times, so it was clear as a freshwater stream that they’d hold a destination wedding up north. They reserved the entire Labor Day weekend in Lutsen for entertaining guests at a rustic lakefront lodge. Activities on the Saturday before the wedding included hiking and a beachside barbecue. Staying true to the country setting, the couple walked down the aisle to the folksy melodies of a banjo and guitar duo, and they were married under an elegant arch made of intertwining tree branches. At the reception, two North Country classic dishes were served: potato-crusted walleye and flaky, homemade pie from Betty’s Pies. The tables were named for different Minnesota lakes and were decorated with split logs dappled with dainty woodland flowers.
