The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in a new era of smaller, more intimate weddings. For the couple that has always dreamed of being surrounded by throngs of friends and family, the idea of a small wedding may sound bells of doom. And while those who really do have their hearts set on a large wedding are advised to wait until it’s safe to throw one, many other couples have taken the chance to make the most of a condensed celebration.
Hailey Carlson of Essen Events styled the perfect microwedding at the St. Paul College Club. Applying the budget of a larger wedding on a smaller scale allows for magnified opulence and an ability to pay attention to smaller details that often get overlooked in bigger settings. Hailey’s design took cues from an elegant palette of blush and pink tones. Apres Event Decor & Tent Rental’s Villa salad plates anchored the place settings, featuring a petaled designed accentuated by a baby pink border. Thrifted glass drinkware and intricate flatware lent a gentle texture and richness to the tablescape, while the glossy embroidered linens looked almost as if they were cut from the same cloth as the bride’s gown.
The St. Paul College Club provided the perfect backdrop for the cozy affair. Its recently updated sunroom, traditional furniture and private gardens allow for it to be customized to each couple’s individual needs and tastes. Copious amounts of blush rose floral arrangements adorned the tabletops, cohesively tying the space together. Every small touch taken together turned the design into a wedding that could have been taken straight out of the English countryside, with loads of charm and polish to boot.
