Michelle & Brant

Sept. 23, 2011 at the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis

You can take the girl out of her gig in graphic design, but you can’t take the graphic design out of the girl. At least that’s how Michelle Hyster felt as she went about planning her wedding with Brant Taylor. In search of a totally cohesive look, she branded her wedding as she would for any of her clients’ events. She designed a logo for her and her sweetheart using their initials, and she made sure that it was emblazoned on everything from invitations to table settings, along with her teal, green and silver wedding colors. The overarching theme at work was “rustic meets modern,” (Brant is the rustic half, Michelle the modern), and the couple felt that the Mill City Museum embodied that concept; plus it turned out to be a great place to party until the wee hours of the morning. Among the particularly memorable elements of the reception were the hundreds of multicolored paper flowers arranged on tables and in bouquets. They were all handmade by Michelle, who’s a self-proclaimed paper geek—and she was happy to put her talents to the test to personalize her own wedding.
