Wedding: March 17, 2018
Ceremony & reception: Machine Shop, Minneapolis
Honeymoon: Europe
Music has been a central theme to Heidi Umhoefer and Dan Doherty’s courtship and proposal—they bonded over a shared passion for live shows, and he proposed on the stage at First Avenue, complete with spotlights and Heidi’s favorite song playing. So it’s no surprise that the couple made music such a big part of their St. Patrick’s Day wedding at Machine Shop. They set the tone with save-the-dates that looked like an actual record (“We had guests admit that it looked so real, they tried to play it!” Heidi says), had friends and family sign records in lieu of a guest book, and even had Prince lyrics on their cake. Of course, the reception music rose to the same high bar. “Since music was extremely important to us, we personally curated the music list for dinner, and for the reception we had an excellent band and added all the bells and whistles,” she says.
The day had a distinct musical theme to honor the couple's shared love of live shows.
