Twin Cities’ high-end designer bridal salons l’atelier couture and Posh Bridal Couture continue to stay on-trend by expanding their exclusive collections. Each recently welcomed the collections of locally based, nationally renowned talent whose designs give a nod to non-traditional brides.

Joy Teiken, owner and designer of Joynoelle, has been making brides happy for more than a decade with her handcrafted creations, so it’s fitting that “joy” was the inspiration for her 2013 bridal line. Posh Bridal Couture is now carrying those dresses, which, Teiken says, “show the bride’s personality and celebrate the day when she marries the person she loves.”

Up-and-coming bridal gown designer Tara LaTour has quickly captured the national bridal industry’s heart with her play on color, texture and dimension. Her complete fall 2013 line can now be found at l’atelier couture. “Brides are drawn to the overall look of something different hanging on our racks,” says manager Christina Herrmann. “It’s exciting for them to see something with a pop of color.”

One of the most attractive aspects of selecting a gown by a locally based designer is the access brides have throughout the dressmaking process. Teiken and LaTour both design and construct all of their gowns in their metro-area studios, giving brides the full experience of meeting with the designer, selecting fabrics, and custom sizing and fittings.
