Wedding Date: September 7, 2019
Every winter, Nadeen Waletski and Cody Ritt had walked behind the frozen cascade at Minnehaha Falls. In 2017, during their annual winter stroll, Nadeen noticed the nearby bridge was bedecked with rose petals—then Cody popped the question. Their wedding blended rustic with elegant, combining his love of the outdoors and her upscale style, featuring a minimalist combination of earthy greens and crisp whites, with locally grown blooms in the florals. To make their ceremony more personal, one of their closest friends officiated, and their dog, Mikko, was ring bearer. Though it had been a cloudy day, the sun came out for a brief moment—just as they were saying their vows. “It was nothing short of magical,” she recalls. Later, as is tradition in their family, Cody’s father auctioned off his cowboy hat, with the proceeds going to the newlyweds. In a sweet homage to their Midwestern roots, the couple gave each of the guests a heart-shaped apple pie on a stick.
