Wedding: May 27, 2017
Ceremony & reception: A’BULAE, St. Paul
Honeymoon: Mini-moon in California, honeymoon in Thailand
Alison Franta and Konstantin Butskiy’s relationship began through a mixing of friendships. Although Konstantin was born in the Ukraine, the couple was brought together because they were the boy- and girl-next-door. The two had a mutual family friend, and after being introduced at a bonfire at that family’s home, they discovered they had grown up a few blocks away from one another without ever meeting. Eight years later, the adventurous duo has visited seven countries, and enjoy spending time with their Bernese mountain dog and exploring their North Loop neighborhood. They celebrated their love with a wedding at A’BULAE, a venue that blends industrial with glamorous. Beamed ceilings and elegant chandeliers were accented by dramatic décor, as Alison paired touches of gold with bold, dark flowers. She also incorporated geometric shapes: marble hexagons for place cards and a hexagonal wedding cake. Guests were the top priority for the couple as their vision of bringing family and friends together became a reality. The groom’s elderly grandparents and other members of their tight-knit Ukrainian community mingled with Alison’s large extended family, while Konstantin’s father conquered his fear of public speaking to deliver a heartwarming toast. The most cherished moment for Alison and Konstantin came after they exchanged vows, when the officiant asked them to turn around and face their guests. Looking over friends and family, gathered to celebrate their love, Alison and Konstantin were overwhelmed by love and joy.
