McCall Goehner was getting a little impatient with Brady Goeson, her boyfriend of more than three years. After all, they already had a house and a dog together. And though Brady had a plan—to propose on a downtown rooftop venue in Fargo—it didn’t feel right. Back home that evening, while preparing dinner, McCall wasn’t sure why Brady insisted she grab their dog Bruin’s favorite stuffed toy—until she discovered Brady had hidden a ring in it. “It was sweet, simple and sentimental,” McCall says. Bruin played a role in their special day, too, when they took a break during the cocktail hour to snap photos with their furry friend. Keeping things simple and close to home was important, McCall says, so holding everything at the event center made everything easy. For her florals, she chose wildflowers with a simple palette of greens, whites, mustard and a pop of blue. They incorporated some personal touches, such as their cake, created by a high school classmate, and, in a sign of the times, individual face masks for the guests that McCall had personalized with the newlyweds’ initials and wedding date.
