Wedding: June 11, 2017
Ceremony & reception: Mayowood Stone Barn, Rochester
Honeymoon: Iceland and Norway
When Paige Vigil thinks of what made her wedding day most special, there’s no hesitation: her groom! She and Drew Terwilliger dated near the end of college before the couple went their separate ways for a few years, but the old adage about absence proved true, and they ultimately got back together. Paige saved mementos from throughout their relationship—everything from movie-ticket stubs to travel receipts from vacations to the Dominican Republic and Amsterdam. The morning of the wedding, she left a scrapbook filled with all the keepsakes in Drew’s room, and he admits the surprise turned him into a “puddle.” However, the couple did not see one another until Paige walked down the aisle to “A Sunday Kind of Love” by Etta James, kicking off their Sunday brunch wedding. The morning celebration provided the ideal setting for a couple who is less interested in late-night dancing than in mimosas and Bloody Marys. It also let their chef get creative, serving up French toast and quiche, corned beef and eggs, and a quinoa breakfast bowl. The details set the tone for the early birds: Programs were designed to look like newspapers, signage read “I love you a brunch” and “We go together like doughnuts and coffee,” and guests could satisfy their sweet tooth with a doughnut wall. Instead of dancing, the celebrations concluded with a rowdy round of lawn games.
