Ceremony & reception: The NP Event Space, Brainerd
Honeymoon: New Zealand
Brett Myrland had just moved to Minneapolis from Madison, Wis., when he walked into the Bulldog bar and saw Cherise Hudrlik behind the counter mixing drinks. They hit it off right away, and after several more trips to the bar, they started dating. Three years later, the couple wed at the NP Event Space, an old railroad station (and new wedding venue) close to Cherise’s hometown of Crosby. “It couldn’t be more perfect and unique,” Cherise says. “The NP is an event space like no other. We got married outside in the courtyard and had the reception indoors in the blacksmith warehouse.” To honor the venue’s history, the couple hid the four Monopoly railroad cards around the building for guests to find, and if they discovered a card, they received a prize. “People had a lot of fun with it,” Cherise says. Her mom, who planned the entire event, decorated the space with lots of ferns, other greenery—and jackalopes, the mythical creature that Cherise has always loved.
A old railroad station is perfect for this summer wedding.
