College sweethearts Lauren Dicks and Joe Benike started their relationship with a spring break snowboarding trip to Lutsen on the North Shore, so choosing the Lutsen Resort for their wedding venue was a no-brainer. “We always knew we wanted to get married at the place where it all began—Lake Superior,” Lauren says. “We love the North Shore energy and the up-north vibe of Lutsen Resort.” With the lake’s stunning natural beauty as backdrop, the couple kept the rest of the décor pretty minimal. They incorporated special touches, like having their close Chilean friend, whom they met while spending a year teaching English there, officiate. Another highlight for the couple and their guests was the folk, rockabilly and rock hybrid band, The Last Revel. “They had everyone dancing so hard that the lights were flickering in the historic Lutsen Resort lodge. We were honored to have them a part of our special day,” Lauren says.
