Even though they’d known each other since high school, Alex and Stacie didn’t begin dating until after college. After Alex proposed (by having three horses approach Stacie, each with a sign around its neck with part of the phrase “Will you marry me?”), the couple decided to set the date for a short five months, wanting to make sure their aging grandparents could partake in the celebration. After a ceremony in a nearby church, everyone headed to the groom’s family farm. The couple wanted their guests to feel like they were at a warm family gathering, so they focused on communal elements such as a family-style pasta dinner, wine on every table, room to mingle with the farm animals and a rocking dance floor. Family and friends lent their skills to help every detail: Stacie’s aunt made her veil from her mother’s wedding dress, the cake was baked by a family friend and the florals were arranged by a coworker. Their day was such a hit that some of the family stayed overnight in campers on the grounds so that they could party all night!
