Citrus Shades Bring Joy into Summery Wedding Design at The Cottage Farmhouse

This playful design by Availed Wedding and Event Planning channels inspiration from the happy hues of orange, lemon, lime and kiwi. The Cottage Farmhouse, with its luxuriously appointed barn, combines rustic warmth with elegance and ease. Only an hour west of the Twin Cities near Glencoe, it’s a world apart from the urban pace. The property’s original farmhouse is now the cozy bridal cottage, a granary has been transformed into the groom’s ready room and a corncrib offers a charming “first look” space.

The invitation suite in sunny hues sets the mood for the happy event to come as shown below. Oriental rugs create a ceremony space and add another textural element in the 100-year-old former dairy barn. Bowls of glowing gerbera daisies, lilies, dahlias and more pick up the colors in the rugs.

Dewy-fresh, with a shimmery pink lip and light rose blush, our bride sports artsy drop earrings on point with her “Lancaster” gown by Mara Marie Bridal—who calls it “the perfect party-ready LWD” paired with a gorgeous, removable overskirt. Our groom picks up the colorful vibe with an exuberant rose-colored suit and floral-print tie.

Liven up the tablescape with a fruity touch. Lemons, limes, kiwi fruit, oranges, pears, mangoes and papayas flaunt their delicious colors and complement abundant bouquets of daisies, dahlias, dianthus and lilies. Availed sought to express the excitement of the wedding day by “leaning into the fun with everything from the texture of the rugs to the hanging installation and fruit.”
