The Hollywood Theater set the stage for an immersive design that is modern, nostalgic and dramatically cinematic. The brainchild of photographer Alina Kay and event designer Stephanie Koehne of Serce, the editorial captures the glamour and drama of Hollywood’s golden age through a distinctly trend-forward lens. “A huge inspiration point was historic theater culture itself: old Hollywood premieres, vintage supper clubs, dramatic stage curtains, tungsten lighting, live jazz performances and the feeling of being transported somewhere timeless for one evening,” explains Kay.
Cinema Luxe was inspired by the golden era of Hollywood cinema—not through nostalgia alone, but through atmosphere, theatricality and emotional world-building.

The historic Minneapolis theater provided the backdrop for the creativity to unfold, starting first and foremost with one of the key components: the lighting. “We intentionally blacked out the theater’s natural light and built the entire environment using cinematic lighting techniques more commonly seen in film production,” says Kay. “The goal was to sculpt the space emotionally—allowing the ceremony, dinner and dance floor to evolve almost like acts within a movie.”
Beneath a tower of draping, an elegant tablescape takes shape with nods to old-world abundance and classical art. Sculptural orchids and calla lilies in deep burgundy are nestled in bear grass while still-life fruit details appear throughout: overflowing silver tiers of grapes, citrus and artichokes alongside candlelight, crystal, layered metallics and a seven-foot, Art-Deco-inspired cake.
Fashion was another major storytelling element. “Rather than approaching bridal styling traditionally, every look was built to feel character-driven and cinematic,” says Kay. “A blend of Old Hollywood glamour with modern tailoring and editorial fashion references.”
The result is a perfect slice of life, a moment that strikes a beautiful balance between drama and design. “What makes the project feel unique to us is that it intentionally blurred the lines between wedding, film, theater, fashion editorial and live performance,” says Kay.
