Leah Stockstrom and Andrew Freeding envisioned an elegant, intimate and simple wedding to mark the beginning of their new chapter. They chose a heartfelt ceremony beneath the stunning architecture of the Minnesota State Capitol, surrounded by their immediate family. The couple wanted to create a timeless experience at a historic landmark before hosting a larger celebration the following year. Leah and Andrew’s first look was an especially emotional moment caught entirely on camera: Andrew waited on a second-floor balcony within the sweeping rotunda while Leah ascended the stairs and tapped him on the shoulder. Granite and marble columns and walls, bathed in warm lamplight, towered above the scene and created a classic, graceful atmosphere. Leah wanted the wedding portraits to take advantage of the building’s stunning beauty, so time was carefully spent capturing a variety of pictures, immortalizing memories of the special day. The close-knit ceremony, attended by a few treasured family members, took place at the base of the rotunda, with colorful and intricate murals within the dome soaring high above. The space’s pristine arches, romantic lighting and ornate marble carvings made the capital an ideal, jaw-dropping backdrop for the pair’s deeply meaningful celebration. Leah and Andrew’s focus on simplicity and intimacy created a more grand and personal way to celebrate their love than they ever could have imagined.
