Their wedding was an ode to the enduring magic of spring in the Northwoods, beginning atop the hills of Duluth with an intimate ceremony at St. Louis County Courthouse, beloved by Marya, a wedding photographer, for its historic charm. The party continued at the bride’s family home surrounded by cherry blossoms and fresh greenery.
Music played a central role in the couple’s wedding design; Marya’s “best women” wore friendship bracelets in a sentimental reference to the trend adopted by Taylor Swift’s fans. Playful references to Taylor Swift songs were scattered throughout the décor, including a signature “Lavender Haze” cocktail.
Whimsical floral arrangements included a variety of blooms, from seasonal roses, ranunculus and pennycress to zinnias, peonies and hydrangeas. The petaled pink cake was a sweet addition, effortlessly matching the florals du jour.
As a creative twist to a traditional dinner, guests enjoyed wood-fired pizzas and signature drinks from a dirty soda bar and coffee cart. Featured on the cocktail napkins, Marya and Hunter’s dog, Poppy, was the true diva of the day and wore her own custom outfit to match the bride’s gown. —Diane Meyer
