High school sweethearts Carissa Youngquist and Preston Powell have a long history (they've been together for 11 years). So for their wedding day, they chose a reception space with history, too. The Grand 1858 at Minneapolis Event Centers is a renovated 160-year-old space that the couple transformed into a romantic wonderland. “It was the first venue we looked at, and we didn’t think any of the others in the area were comparable,” Carissa says. “It had everything we were looking for. We loved that it had an outdoor space, a space for cocktail hour, and an intimate space for dinner and dancing.” As beautiful as the reception was, Carissa says her favorite part of the wedding was the ceremony at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. “The highlight of our day was hearing each other’s vows, because we wrote them ourselves, which made it really special and intimate.”
