In an effort to design a living love letter to Minnesota, Elizabeth and Jonathan chose a pair of the state’s landmarks to frame their wedding day, beginning with a ceremony at the Basilica of St. Mary. The setting carried particular weight—the bride’s family has long been part of the parish—and saying their vows there, even as the space undergoes restoration, added a sense of continuity to the moment.
At Mill City Museum, the tone of the reception shifted to a moodier, more layered aesthetic. Velvet linens and sculptural greenery softened the venue’s raw architecture, while warm gold lamps cast a gentle glow across the room in place of candlelight. Arrangements moved between low, gathered blooms and looser, meadow-like compositions, bringing an organic rhythm to the space.
Elizabeth and Jonathan wove subtle references to the city throughout the celebration. Illustrated Minneapolis landmarks appeared across their paper goods, symbolizing the places that shaped their relationship. Handwritten notes to each guest tied to the menus lent a personal, almost heirloom quality to each setting. Then there were the lighter notes—a custom ice luge featuring their dog drew a steady crowd and set a playful tone.
As the evening unfolded, guests lingered between the dance floor and lounge spaces, settling into the glow of the room as music carried late into the night. —Megan Simpson Teeter
