Down-to-Earth Dual Ceremony Wedding Day Balancing Bright and Soft Aesthetics at Windows at Marquette

Sara Carter and Akhil Uppalapati imagined their wedding day to be as down-to-earth as possible while still respecting the traditions of their respective cultures. After a welcome party of Indian food and henna application, the couple partook in not one but two ceremonies back-to-back at the Windows at Marquette in Minneapolis, with an outfit change and snack for guests in between. Officiating their wedding in both Indian and Western ceremonies, it was important for their wedding décor and florals to be inclusive with each tradition. Thankfully, the crossover of the customary Indian mandap translated perfectly to the concept of an altar in Western weddings, which they decorated with light summery shades of coral, peach and orange florals. To complement the auspicious use of reds and oranges in Indian weddings, the couple also embraced colors of the season by utilizing light blues and eucalyptus. Sara and Akhil wanted to create a more casual atmosphere to reflect their uncomplicated tastes with intentional touches to seamlessly flow between the events of the day. Altogether their wedding was exactly as they had hoped—personal and heartfelt without taking it all too seriously.
