Owner Paula Coulter made Effie’s Bridal Trunk a reality after a life-changing accident inspired her to live life to the fullest. That dream-come-true quality is palpable here, with happy brides, moms and friends all enjoying the hunt for a once-in-a-lifetime gown.
The Burnsville salon feels like a luxurious boudoir, in creamy shades of white and gray. A blue velvet settee in the entryway sets the tone for a relaxed but elegant experience. “Our space sets us apart,” says Sara Nivala, store manager. All that space means there’s plenty of room for a wide selection of gowns, combined with intimate spaces for the moments you’ll want to share privately.
The mirrored Pink Parlor can be reserved, so you can enjoy a glass of champagne and have a mini fashion show with your nearest and dearest. There are plenty of beautiful gowns to choose from, including lines from Watters and Allure.
Nivala says that with so many unique options, it’s hard to choose a favorite. She has noticed more brides looking at whimsical and bohemian designs for outdoor weddings. For those wanting a more formal look, she suggests Liz Simon, a designer from Toronto who specializes in couture design, beautiful fabrics and options for customization, all at an affordable price.
What both Coulter and Nivala most love about working with brides is getting to know them and their families and friends as they choose the perfect look for their happy day. Says Nivala, “Our brides share such wonderful stories with us, which makes the buying process so much more personal and memorable.”
