The industrial-chic venue trend keeps humming with the opening of PAIKKA.

Angie Trygg and Marlo Munch have no shortage of creative talent—Trygg did visual displays for Anthropologie and Munch was a florist before the two partnered for event design—and they tapped into that ingenuity when they transformed a former auto repair shop in St. Paul into one of the hottest new venues in town.

PAIKKA, which officially launched this past spring, is an industrial space (before the auto shop it was home to the King Koil mattress factory), but thanks to the ladies’ vision, it still feels soft and airy. The tell-tale signs of its charming history remain, but the bright wall colors, greenery and metallic pendant lights add contemporary warmth.

Plus, because it’s so open, there’s an abundance of potential for brides and grooms to add their own personality.

“PAIKKA is meant to provide a custom experience, so it’s great for someone creative with a really clear vision of what they want,” Trygg says.

The venue consists of two separate rooms, the Gold Room and the Silver Room. The Silver Room is ideal for a lounge or smaller gatherings, while the Gold Room can accommodate a cocktail reception for up to 350 people. Bonus: PAIKKA has an open vendor policy, which means there are no limitations on what you can create.

“Marlo and I started this venue because we enjoy being a part of beautiful gatherings,” Trygg says. “We’ve made PAIKKA into a space that we love, and we can’t wait to share it with our community.”
