For 10 years, Mike Timmer and Larisa Tehven lived less than 2 miles apart, yet their paths never crossed; an online dating site brought them together in October 2015. It was the first time either of them had tried the service—and the last. Mike proposed on St. Patrick’s Day in 2018 after a home-cooked dinner of corned beef and cabbage. Larisa says she was so surprised that “I forgot to answer him for at least 10 minutes! He had to ask me again, 'So ... is that a ‘yes?’” The couple wanted an intimate wedding with close friends and immediate family, Nick and Sydney, Larisa’s children, and Lauren and Patrick, Mike's kids, comprising the wedding party and escorting their parents down the aisle. Personal touches included table décor Mike made of tree stumps from his sister’s Stillwater property, while Larisa wore an antique bracelet belonging to her mother. With a passion for the outdoors and the environment, Camrose Hill was their perfect venue. Still, there’s no accounting for weather. “The day started with a torrential downpour,” Larisa recalls, “but shortly after noon, the rain cleared up and the day steadily transformed into a cooler, gorgeous July day with a few sunbeams starting to shine through just as our guests started to arrive.”
